Yoga Practice Basics

Home Yoga Practice Structure We can easily over complicate yoga practice. Sometimes, it’s good just to get back to basics and do a bit of everything to feel good. Trust the yoga!     For a well-rounded practice, I suggest the below structure. The shorter time frame will give you about […]

Ep. 72 – Keep it Together Flow

Find your center when everything else gets complicated. That’s how we’ll function as we work through pigeon pose and variations, some deep twists, and a little arm balance play. We’ll use this practice to feel our bodies and learn to breathe and focus when times get tough. (All levels/65 minutes) […]

On Father’s Day

When I think of my father, I find myself seventeen years old and back in our garage. I stand underneath the fluorescent lights while an oscillating fan blows some cool air my way – a welcome relief on a hot and humid Florida night. The radio is of course tuned […]

Ep. 71 – AM30

Here’s a thirty minute morning yoga practice for you to get your day started right. We’ll ease in with ten minutes of warm up, get moving with ten minutes of flow, and then finish with ten minutes of standing postures, backbends and some quick releases to wind it all down […]

On Second Chances

I returned to the National Gallery this weekend for another museum meditation. I wanted to sit with a piece, grounded in my body and breath, and see where it took me. I had previously stuck with the safe terrain of flowers, but thought I’d look at some of the religious […]

Ep. 70 – Keep on Keeping On Flow

This flow (re-recorded after the original post had some technical difficulty!) is all about commitment and sticking with it as the heat cranks up. We’ll go through a relatively straight forward progression of warm up, sun salutations, standing poses and arm balances, backbends, and winding down. We’ll build complications (like […]

On the Art of Meditation 2

Art and Meditation Art and meditation and how they intersect have been interesting me more and more. I was recently inspired by Shannon Stephens‘s Yoga Journal article 12 Steps to Turn an Art Museum Visit into a Mindful Meditation and I thought I’d give her lesson of using artwork as a […]

Ep. 69 – Slow, Strong, & Steady Flow

This is a slow, strong, and steady flow practice where we really enjoy an unhurried pace and the ability to feel and experience deeply. We will luxuriate through a slowed down series of sun salutations, deepen into standing postures, and play with some arm balances including bakasana and eka pada […]

Ep. 68 – Creativity Reset

Here’s a practice to help you tune into your senses, experience the world, and be ready to express yourself creatively. We’ll begin breathing and listening, move through a slow and focused sun salutation, see the world upside down, and experience the world within. All the while, we’ll make sure we […]
