Spring! – Afternoon Yoga Retreat

23 April 2017 @ 2:45 pm - 5:15 pm

£30

An Afternoon Retreat with Adam Hocke

Join me for a Spring-themed afternoon retreat to immerse yourself in the practice of yoga and deepen your individual commitment to self-care and spiritual discovery. Join our community of practitioners as we go through a complete, strong, and well-rounded flow practice, rest in restorative yoga postures, explore the healing properties of breath, and experience the depths of savasana and group meditation. Go beyond your normal limitations, push your edges, and expand your potential for joy and awakening.

£10 from your workshop fee will be donated to International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).

International Planned Parenthood Federation is a leading advocate for family planning services, sexual health and abuse prevention training and education, and gender equality. It aims to improve the quality of life of individuals by campaigning for sexual and reproductive health and rights through advocacy and services, especially for poor and vulnerable people. IPPF provides 300 services for women and girls every minute, in countries around the world through programming in anti-FGC/M (female genital mutilation/cutting), HIV/AIDS support, family planning, and reproductive health.

Unfortunately, their funding for upcoming years is at risk due to the passage of the global gag rule, which blocks critical funding for health services like contraception, maternal health, and HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment for any organisation that provides abortion services, even in cases of rape, incest, and detriment to the mother. IPPF offers integrated services which means that all critical programming is at risk. It is estimated that IPPF will lose $100 million in funding from the U.S. government, with programming in sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean likely to be the most affected. This funding is enough to prevent 20,000 maternal deaths and provide treatment for 275,000 pregnant women living with HIV to protect their health and help prevent transmission of HIV to their infants ; 70 million condoms to prevent unintended pregnancies, HIV and other STIs; and much, much more.
